GRIT-IDEA-PROTOTYPE
Akhansha Sen
The Problem: Teens and young adults today face constant distraction and burnout. They often lack engaging, actionable tools to discover their true passions and build the resilience (grit) needed to stick to their goals.
Idea
The Idea: GRIT is a high-energy platform that bridges the gap between fleeting motivation and lasting action. By combining gamified self-discovery (the Spark Quiz), an interactive Habit Engine, scalable challenges, and constant positive reinforcement, GRIT turns personal development into an engaging, hype-driven lifestyle. The Motivation: To counteract instant-gratification culture. GRIT normalizes the struggle, explains the science behind neuroplasticity, and celebrates the daily grind to help users realize that failure is just a stepping stone. Expected Impact: Clarity: Users discover their unique path (Athlete, Builder, Creator, etc.). Action: Daily tracking and 30-day challenges turn goals into rock-solid habits. Resilience: Users develop a growth mindset, learning to embrace the struggle and refuse to quit.
How to use
GRIT is deployed on GitHub Pages: https://akhanshasen.github.io/GRIT-PROJECT-IDEA-PROTOTYPE/ 1. Open the link in any modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox). 2. No login or credentials are required. 3. Use the navbar to explore sections: About, Find Your Fire, Mantras, Challenges. 4. Take the Spark Quiz, try mantra actions, and open challenge pages for interactive check-ins. 5. Some progress is saved locally in browser storage, so returning users can continue where they left off.
Notes & next steps
Current status: Fully usable as a static web app via GitHub Pages. Future plans: user accounts, cloud sync, analytics dashboard, reminder notifications, stronger personalization of challenges/mantras, and community features. Known limitations: currently uses local browser storage (no backend/database), so progress does not sync across devices; limited offline/error handling. Technical blockers faced: balancing UI customization across multiple challenge pages while keeping consistent design and responsive behavior; ensuring interactions remain lightweight on a static deployment.
