Food

  • Amit Patil

Most calorie trackers are slow to log meals, generic (not India-focused), and bury useful context behind multiple taps. Food is a local-first nutrition app that helps users find food fast, log with one tap, and understand what they ate — macros, sugar (in teaspoons), satiety, digestion gaps, vitamins, and estimated body impact.

Idea

Motivation: Build a Zepto/Blinkit-style, card-heavy experience for Indian staples (~311 foods with real photos), so logging feels as fast as ordering groceries. Expected impact: Faster daily logging, better awareness of sugar and protein, and smarter food choices via “better alternatives” — all stored on-device with no account required.

How to use

Home → swipe macro cards, one-tap log from food cards Search → grid, filters, quick add Plan → date strip, meal timeline, sugar spoons, body impact Food detail → portion stepper, better alternatives Add custom food → gallery/camera photo How to use Home — View today’s macros; browse Recent / Quick add / High protein; tap + to log instantly or tap a card for detail. Search — 2-column grid; filter (High protein, Low carb, Veg, etc.); tap + to log; app bar + to add custom food. Plan — Pick any date; see meal timeline (Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner · Snacks); edit, reorder, or delete logs; view sugar spoons, satiety, digestion, body impact. Food detail — Adjust portion; see macros, sugar, vitamins; log to today or selected date; explore better alternatives. Custom foods — Add name, macros, optional photo; stored locally alongside the seed catalog.

Notes & next steps

Future plans (v2+): Cloud sync Barcode scan / AI food recognition Fuzzy search aliases Full Settings screen (custom goals, units) Higher accuracy for medical-grade use
